We are excited to offer a Certified Organic fresh-cut flower CSA, hosted by our friends at Provider Farm in Salem, CT. As a 2018 flower shareholder, you will enjoy a weekly handcrafted bouquet of the freshest seasonal flowers while providing us with much-needed early start up funds for seeds and supplies.
Elise and Caitlin are crazy about experimenting with gorgeous, unusual flowers in rare colors and textures, so each week your bouquet will be a unique design composed of flowers and foliage grown organically right here in East Haddam, and arranged from scratch by us. Each bouquet will be big enough to generously fill a quart-size ball jar or similar vase and command attention at the center of your dining room table (or at your office, or at your clothing boutique, or on your mother's dining room table...you get the idea). At pickup, you’ll find your bouquet in water, wrapped in a hand-stamped brown paper sleeve. Once you get it to its destination, give the stems a trim and put the bouquet in a vase of fresh water to enjoy.
How It Works:
The Four Root Farm Flower Share will be 12 weeks long - running from July 3 through September 18. The cost is $15 per bouquet, $180 total. Pickup will be on Tuesdays at Provider Farm in Salem, during their normal CSA distribution from 2 pm to 7 pm. (For existing Provider shareholders: Friday pickups for flowers are not available at this time, though you can certainly pick up your flowers on Tuesdays and your veggies on Fridays if that fits your schedule better.)
We are offering this share independently from the Provider veggie share, so you will pay us directly by sending a check to us. We are very grateful to be hosted by Provider, and love what they grow, so if you're not already a veggie shareholder with them we encourage you to sign up!
Reservations are first come, first serve, so if you're interested please e-mail us at email@example.com to reserve your spot. Once we confirm that your spot is reserved via email, please send a check for $180 to: Four Root Farm, 257 Tater Hill Road, East Haddam, CT 06423.
You can also purchase your share via our online shop, but please note that due to the cost of online credit card processing, there will be an extra $5 fee added if you choose to go this route.
We will only be able to do the flower share this season if we reach a minimum of 15 shares, so tell your friends! If there is unexpectedly small turnout we will refund your payment promptly.
A plug for buying local organic flowers:
In buying organic flowers from us, your local Connecticut farmers, you are bringing the lush, delicate beauty of seasonal blooms into your house or office. In addition, you are using your spending power to vote against the international industrial flower market - which is less regulated than industrial food and more harmful to the health of our planet and the people that grow them.
Instead of being chemical laden, mass produced, and imported from thousands of miles away on refrigerated airplanes, our flowers are healthy, unique, seasonal, lovingly harvested and arranged by us, driven to you in our ratty old van, and Certified Organic.
